From Cow & Calf to Ruby Slippers
Updated: Jul 30, 2018
One of Howard's most vivid pieces, ‘The Cow and Calf with Vivid Heather’ recently caught the attention one of Howard and Kathryn's friends, entrepreneur Craig Burton of The Works Recruitment.
Howard and his wife / business partner Kathryn have known Craig for a number of years now, mainly through their mutual involvement with Buy Yorkshire events. Craig has on occasion compered the seminar speakers and has always struck the husband and wife creative team as a really great guy. They were thrilled when Craig wanted to buy the limited edition canvas that he’d expressed interest in.
Howard and Kathryn arranged to deliver the canvas in person to Craig’s business address, so along with their young son they popped along one sunny Saturday morning. It just so happened to be whilst Craig was holding a pop-up café in support of Friends of Dorothy. During the visit Craig chatted to the couple about the cause and Howard and Kathryn agreed to support the initiative and Howard went away to create some artwork that could represent the ethos of the organisation.
There are three paintings, all available as limited edition canvases and prints, that will prompt a donation from each sale. They are: ‘Alan Bennett on Pink’, ‘Young Hockney with Pride’, and ‘Olympian’. https://www.rushfirthart.com/current-fundraising-pieces
In addition to the online limited edition canvases, there will be a one-of-a-kind exclusive extra large square format canvas available - ‘Young Hockney with Pride, the Lockyers Special Edition’. This will be personally signed by the Howard Rushfirth and will be held for auction during the Ruby Slipper Ball. There will only ever be one of this unique canvas at this size made available to buy.
